Kabir Narang Exits B Capital to Launch New Investment Platform

TechCrunch has verified and confirmed with B Capital that Kabir Narang, a founding general partner and early funder of many Indian startups, has departed the international venture firm.

According to a memo shared with founders and examined by TechCrunch, Narang is setting the stage for a new investment platform that will launch in 2026 and concentrate on “compounding at the convergence of technology, AI, and global capital flows.”

Narang oversaw B Capital’s global investment committee and co-led the company’s Asia strategy from Singapore after joining in March 2017. He supported Indian businesses including Meesho, Khatabook, CredAvenue, Bounce, and Bizongo during his time there.

According to Narang, “we are living through one of the most significant technology revolutions in history and one of the greatest tests of investment discipline.” “AI compresses the gap between idea and output by scaling mind itself.” The next generation of long-lasting value will be defined by the entrepreneurs who combine that speed with pricing power and better unit economics.

Narang informed the founders that he is taking 1% to 2% personal shares in businesses he thinks can “compound smartly” in addition to creating the new investment platform. This implies that he intends to establish a more comprehensive entity while continuing to engage in early-stage investing.

B Capital told TechCrunch that Eduardo Saverin, Karan Mohla, and Howard Morgan will oversee its Asia portfolio in addition to the current team in South and Southeast Asia, confirming Narang’s departure.

A representative for B Capital stated, “Kabir Narang, who concentrated on later stage growth investment activities in Asia, has left his post to seek new possibilities after more than eight years with the firm.” “We appreciate his contributions and hope he has more success in the future.”

Eduardo Saverin, a co-founder of Facebook, and Raj Ganguly, a senior executive at Bain Capital, founded B Capital in 2015 as a multi-stage investor with a focus on resilience tech, healthcare, and technology. With nine locations in the US and Asia, the San Francisco-based company oversees over $9 billion. Additionally, B Capital offers strategic and operational help to portfolio firms through a collaboration with Boston Consulting Group.

Narang worked as a managing director at Fidelity-backed Eight Roads Ventures India for over nine years prior to joining B Capital.

The B Capital representative stated, “B Capital is fully committed to our strategy in Asia and our larger global platform.” “We are well-positioned to capitalize on the next wave of innovation and continue supporting category-defining firms throughout our main markets thanks to strong leadership and an experienced staff throughout the region.”

When asked for comment, Narang did not reply.
