IndiGo Set to Operate 1,950 Flights Today for 3 Lakh Passengers

The parent company of IndiGo, InterGlobe Aviation, stated that it anticipates operating around 1,950 flights on December 11 with over 3 lakh passengers.

IndiGo Restores Full Operations

IndiGo keeps bolstering its operations, enhancing its services daily to run more than 1,900 flights that smoothly link all 138 locations throughout our network. The airline stated in a stock exchange filing, “Our dedication to operational excellence has resulted in considerable efficiency benefits and our on-time performance has been returned to top-tier industry standards.”

The airline, which has had several cancellations in recent days, reported that operations have stabilized since December 9 and that all network destinations have been completely linked since December 8.

IndiGo Addresses Recent Disruptions

The airline said that, except from a few minor cancellations brought on by weather, technical difficulties, and other outside or uncontrolled circumstances, it had not had any same-day cancellations in the previous three days.

“We remain committed on safety, efficiency, and assistance to every client while the IndiGo team works hand-in-hand with authorities to further normalize our operations,” an IndiGo representative stated.

On December 11, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) called IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers to provide a thorough report on the recent operational problems, complete with statistics and updates.

IndiGo canceled 220 flights from three major airports on December 10: Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. Delhi had the highest number of cancellations, at 137.

For the first time in ten days, IndiGo Chairman Vikram Mehta addressed the situation on December 10. He expressed regret for the mayhem and blamed a mix of “unanticipated” internal and external events for the significant interruptions.

According to Mehta, these “include minor technological difficulties, planned modifications relating to the start of the Winter season, severe weather conditions, increased congestion in the aviation system, and installation of/and operating under the new crew rostering guidelines.”

The DGCA has chosen to post its staff inside IndiGo’s headquarters in order to closely monitor the airline’s operations. Despite claiming that operations have stabilized, the largest airline in India is still canceling dozens of flights.

Two of the eight senior captains on the DGCA’s monitoring team, together with two government representatives, will be based at IndiGo’s Gurgaon headquarters to keep an eye on cancellation status, crew deployment, unscheduled leave, and routes affected by personnel shortages. In accordance with an order, these teams will provide the regulator with a daily report.
