The Jammu and Kashmir Budget session opened in the Legislative Assembly on Monday.
LG Sinha Emphasizes State’s Vision
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the importance of the meeting in his speech to the Assembly, pointing out that it represents the State’s vision. The “
This session bears special significance as it affords an opportunity to reflect on our collective journey, examine our successes, design a clear plan for the future, and reaffirm our common commitment to realizing the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir…,” he said in the Assembly.
JKPCC President’s Budget Expectations
Tariq Hameed Karra, president of the JKPCC, stated his expectations for the budget prior to its release. “As the Chief Minister indicated that we are getting considerable monies from the central government, we hope that this would be reflected in today’s budget…,” Karra told reporters, expressing his expectation that the state would receive the amounts allotted by the federal government.
PDP Criticism and Concerns
Zuhaib Mir, a spokesperson for the PDP, had earlier said that the numbers in the current budget for J&K are essentially unchanged from prior years.
He also expressed regret that the Union Territory has not received a specific economic package and asserted that J&K is the only state in the nation where the most educated young people are unemployed.
Key Issues Highlighted by PDP
“The numbers are nearly identical to those from the last J&K budget. From the previous instance to the present, we have observed that a special package from the Central Government was required following Bhaisaran. Tourism is completely shut down. Young folks do not have jobs. The only state in the nation where young people with the highest levels of education are unemployed is J&K. “J&K has the highest percentage of unemployed and educated young people,” he said. “After then, people from all over the country get beaten up in the name of Jai Shri Ram and Vande Mataram when they travel to Pashmina with little shawls and handicrafts. And in the name of being a Muslim, namely a Muslim from Kashmir. So, our assumption was that for all these sufferings, we will get a proper economic deal. Sadly, we did not receive it,” Mir said to ANI.
