In a meeting, the State Employees’ Joint Council called for a waiver of the Aadhaar-based biometric attendance requirement for field-based health workers.
The Health Minister met with the State Employees’ Joint Council on January 15. The minister promised throughout the discussions that health personnel would be excluded from biometric attendance through the Director General of Health.
The meeting expressed sadness that this exception has not yet been granted, and the Director General of Health has once again instructed in a letter that Aadhaar-based biometric scanners be used to make employee attendance mandatory in government hospitals. The council vehemently objected to this letter.
The council has made it plain that, because of practical issues, field health workers should not be required to use biometric attendance. Additionally, the council has developed a plan for agitation on this matter; specifics will be revealed shortly.
Kalpana, State President Dr. Vinod Chauhan, State Spokesperson Hira Ballabh Joshi, General Secretary Guddi Matuda, Executive President Rakesh Mamgai, Auditor Ramesh Chandra Bhatt, Treasurer Satyaprakash Tiwari, and other office bearers attended the meeting.
