The biggest IndiGo company in the nation, which has been making headlines lately, has made a significant choice. The IndiGo firm has made the decision to hire over a thousand pilots.
This would make it possible for many people to fulfill their ambition of working as pilots with IndiGo. A lack of pilots and other staff forced IndiGo to cancel over 5,000 flights in seven days in December of last year. In order to streamline its operations, IndiGo has now made the significant decision to hire pilots.
IndiGo plans to hire captains, senior first officers, and trainee first officers, according to an Economic Times story. This will be one of the biggest hiring campaigns ever carried out by an Indian airline if IndiGo is successful. According to reports, IndiGo is prepared to hire candidates who have never flown the Airbus A320, the airline’s flagship aircraft.
In December, the airline announced new regulations that doubled weekly rest requirements and restricted the number of landings a pilot could make between midnight and six in the morning. According to a top executive, the airline is hiring pilots to accommodate its expanding fleet. With about 20 to 25 first officers promoted to captain each month, the airline already has a strong internal training program. Each month, the airline adds four new aircraft to its fleet.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducted an inquiry and discovered that IndiGo Airlines had not hired enough people or trained them fast enough to comply with the new regulations. Pilots were under pressure as a result of the lengthy workdays, frequent transfers, and extended idle flying times. It needed 2,422 captains for IndiGo Airlines.
However, there were only 2,357 captains on the airline. This led to the roster’s incomplete implementation, which compelled them to cancel flights. Many airports around the nation had a massive surge of travelers as a result of the aircraft cancellations, and customers became irate.
