Cristiano Ronaldo is spending a tiny portion of his personal wealth in health and wellness technologies by purchasing a Herbalife digital platform.
According to Herbalife’s fourth-quarter data, the 41-year-old Portuguese football player, who has been playing in Saudi Arabia since 2023, spent $7.5 million on a 10% interest in HBL Pro2col Software LLC.
According to a statement from Herbalife, Ronaldo stated, “Investing in Pro2col felt like a logical development – in addition to representing Herbalife, this is about helping build and expand a platform that may actually revolutionize how people engage with their health and wellness.” For more information, Bloomberg News has contacted Ronaldo.
According to the firm, Pro2Col’s platform leverages each person’s distinct data to create a personalized health plan that includes daily routines and intelligent nutrition tracking.
With an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, Ronaldo became the first football player to be listed on the Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index in 2025. Since 2013, he has been a paid spokesperson for Herbalife.
Herbalife’s premarket trading increased by 15%. According to John Baumgartner, an analyst at Mizuho Securities, the Ronaldo news is “increasing brand potential.” Baumgartner reported that the company’s revenue had recovered further than anticipated.
The rise comes after the shares had long-term underperformance. The stock has lost around two-thirds of its value over the last five years.
Bill Ackman, a billionaire investor, bet $1 billion against the firm back in 2012. This led to a high-profile dispute with Carl Icahn, who took a sizable long position.
In order to resolve US allegations that it misled consumers, the Federal Trade Commission ordered Herbalife to reform its operations and pay $200 million in 2016. Although he claimed vindication after the shares fell 43% to a 14-year low in February 2024, Ackman withdrew his holdings in 2018.
