BJP Eyes Jat Votes as PM Modi Rallies in Meerut

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are in less than a year, and the party has started trying to increase its base of support.

There are signs of this coming from Meerut. The BJP has launched an onslaught as part of its plan to increase its political clout in the Jat-dominated area of western Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP views Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Meerut on February 22 as a critical chance to grow its Jat support base. Before the 2027 assembly elections, the BJP will launch development projects in an effort to take advantage of this socioeconomic dynamic.

Re-engaging Jat voters who left the BJP after the farmers’ protests is another thought behind the rally. With the opening of the Meerut Metro and the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, the celebration in Muzaffarnagar is no longer regarded as a formality.

The Metro and Namo Bharat projects are being highlighted by the BJP as accomplishments of the “double-engine” government, and they are being connected to a plan to deliver a political message to a large number of voters. According to party insiders, the purpose of the event is to demonstrate electoral power.

To ensure that the message from Meerut effectively reaches other parts of the state and the party’s vote base grows, the BJP has made development, jobs, and organized easternism the cornerstones of its campaign.

For Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s scheduled visit on Saturday, the traffic police have put in place detours. For the event at India Expo Private Limited in Sector 28 of YEIDA, there will be detours on the Yamuna Expressway, the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, and routes leading to the Delhi border.
