In order to avoid waterlogging during the monsoon, the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCO) has finished building eight new drainage pumping stations (DPS) in Patna.
Patna Strengthens Drainage System Ahead of Monsoon
These stations, which are situated in places like Rajiv Nagar, Danapur, and Patna City, have high-capacity pumps. BUIDCO, a Bihar government initiative, has finished substantial preparations to end the issue of waterlogging that Patna city faces every year during the monsoon.
An official announcement on March 25, 2026, states that even after intense rains, Patna’s metropolitan areas will not experience waterlogging this time. By using “alert mode” to guarantee quick water drainage, BUIDCO has reinforced the infrastructure. To guarantee seamless water flow, the city’s drainage system has been outfitted with new pumping stations and cutting-edge machinery.
Advanced Pumping Stations to Tackle Waterlogging
Residents of Patna will profit greatly from eight brand-new, cutting-edge Drainage Pumping Stations (DPS) during monsoon. Before the monsoon approaches, all of these BUIDCO-built DPS stations will be operational.
These stations include large-capacity dewatering pumps that can quickly remove a lot of water from major roadways and streets. Patna’s drainage capacity will rise dramatically with the construction of these new stations.
🚧 Patna Drainage Upgrade Highlights
- New DPS Stations: 8 high-capacity units
- Purpose: Prevent monsoon waterlogging
- Technology: Advanced dewatering pumps
- Coverage: Major roads & residential areas
- Prepared By: BUIDCO
- Status: Ready before monsoon
Key Locations Covered Across the City
A sizable portion of Patna will be covered by the new DPS building. Rajiv Nagar, Digha Canal, Danapur (Anand Bazaar), TV Tower, Dashrath, Nandlal Chhapra, Bakri Bazaar (Bazar Samiti), and Prem Kunj (Pahari) are the principal sites where these new pumping stations have been constructed.
The installation of these stations will significantly alleviate the excruciating waterlogging for residents in Patna City’s small lanes and bypass areas as well as those residing in affluent neighborhoods. With the addition of these eight new stations, BUIDCO’s drainage network—which currently has 56 permanent and 35 temporary DPSs—will be even more robust.
🌧️ Benefits for Patna Residents
- No Waterlogging: Faster rainwater drainage
- Better Roads: Smooth traffic during monsoon
- Area Coverage: From small lanes to main roads
- Stronger Network: Total DPS capacity increased
- Quick Response: Alert-mode operations
- Relief: Reduced yearly flooding issues
Strict Monitoring and Timely Execution
Animesh Kumar Parashar, Managing Director of BUIDCO, is directly monitoring the development of these projects. He has made it quite clear that all trial runs and technical checks must be finished before the first monsoon rains.
To prevent delays at any level, all relevant departments have been directed to collaborate. The main objective of the state administration is to make sure that waterlogging on Patna’s roads disappears this year and that residents do not have any trouble traveling.
