According to authorities, a fire at a nightclub in North Goa late on Saturday night claimed the lives of at least 23 people. After midnight, the fire started at Birch near Romeo Lane. The well-liked party location debuted last year in Arpora village, which is around 25 kilometers from Panaji, the state capital.
Alok Kumar, the head of Goa police, told PTI that a cylinder burst caused the fire.
Among the Dead Were Kitchen Workers
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that three women were among the club’s culinary employees who made up the majority of the deceased. He claimed that among the dead were “three to four tourists.”
Three of the 23 perished from burn injuries, while the rest perished from asphyxia, Sawant, who raced to the scene, told reporters.
An announcement of Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia
In response to the tragedy that killed 23 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his sympathies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the next of kin of each person who died in the accident in Arpora, Goa, would get an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF. According to his office, the wounded will get Rs. 50,000.

I hope the wounded get well as soon as possible. discussed the matter with Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant Ji. PM Modi wrote on X, “The State Government is helping those impacted as much as can.”
Did the nightclub violate safety regulations?
According to preliminary information, the chief minister said that the nightclub had not followed fire safety regulations. Sawant said, “We will take action against the club management and also against the authorities who permitted it to function while flouting safety regulations.”
According to Sawant, “this is a terrible incidence during the high tourist season in the coastal state.” The chief minister went on, “We will investigate the situation thoroughly and take strict action against anyone responsible.”
Michael Lobo, a local BJP MLA, said, “All 23 remains have been collected from the premises and transported to the government medical college at Bambolim.” Lobo informed reporters that police and fire departments raced to the scene and continued their rescue operations all night.
According to Lobo, regulators will evaluate each club’s fire safety to make sure that such occurrences do not happen again.
The MLA said that all nightclubs would get notifications from the Calangute panchayat on Monday requesting fire safety permits. He said that clubs without the required approvals will have their licenses revoked.
