Alleged safety violations during the production of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, also known as Dhurandhar 2, have drawn harsh criticism from the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA).
The announcement was made a few days after members of filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s production business, B62 Studios, were placed on a blacklist by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) due to persistent violations of safety rules.
According to the Hindustan Times, AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta sent out a press release expressing the association’s grave worry about what it called hazardous working conditions on set.
The statement stated that “under no circumstances can the lives, safety, and dignity of film industry professionals, technicians, and laborers be compromised.”
According to the organization, it has frequently expressed worry over production companies’ disregard for legal requirements, safety regulations, and fundamental worker protection measures.
Every year, a number of workers die as a result of such egregious negligence, and numerous more have serious injuries from electric shocks, fires, and collapsing or dangerous sets. The tragic events at Goregaon Filmcity and other studios, where employees perished as a result of fire and hazardous working conditions, serve as heartbreaking reminders of the constant risk that film workers endure, the note said.
complaints made to the appropriate authorities
According to AICWA, it has formally complained to the Chief Minister and the BMC, calling for the severe enforcement of safety regulations and the prosecution of individuals at fault.
According to the group, “unfortunately, prompt and severe action is rarely taken, which emboldens negligent production facilities to continue risking the lives of innocent workers.”
“Thousands of workers are put in danger when safety norms are neglected,” AICWA continued, endorsing the BMC’s latest action. Hundreds of shootings occur every day in Mumbai alone, and most production companies disregard the necessary safety and regulatory regulations.
Action taken by BMC against B62 Studios
According to reports, the BMC denied B62 Studios members the opportunity to file for new Dhurandhar 2 shooting permits in Mumbai earlier this week. According to the civic council, there have been “multiple violations” of authorized safety conditions.
Reports state that B62 Studios and people like Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan will no longer be allowed to apply for approvals via the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation’s web platform.
The city authorities has also suggested a ₹1 lakh fine, claiming that two generator vehicles were used without the required permits and that filming was done on a building terrace. Additionally, officials have suggested that a ₹25,000 deposit that was previously made be forfeited.
