After the post-mortem, the tribal family went on foot, carrying the corpse on their shoulders since the ambulance was not ready at Latehar Sadar Hospital.
The irate family brought the corpse to Thana Chowk’s Nagar Panchayat. For two hours, people stopped the road. Surendra Mahato, the station in-charge, arrived after learning about the jam, spoke with the family, and requested that they take the jam out.
Following the completion of the post-mortem, the tribal family became irate and left the Sadar Hospital on foot, carrying the corpse on their shoulders, on Wednesday when an ambulance failed to arrive in time.
After removing the body, the hospital’s management made arrangements for its transportation by a Moksha truck. However, the irate relatives carried the corpse on their shoulders and made their way to Thana Chowk’s Nagar Panchayat.
Here, the irate citizens leveled grave accusations against the Nagar Panchayat official. According to the locals, a laborer was forced to work on a holiday, which is illegal.
Residents claim that even twenty hours after the tragedy, neither a Nagar Panchayat official nor an NGO representative showed up to offer Compassion. For two hours, people stopped the road.
Surendra Mahato, the in-charge of the police station, arrived as soon as word got out about the jam, spoke with the family, and requested that they take the jam out. However, the family was determined and insisted on taking action against the hospital management.
The health department did not provide a vehicle to transport the tribe member’s corpse, according to tribal chief Sukoo Oraon. The cops are putting pressure on us when we block the road to defend our rights.
In addition to acting inappropriately toward us, the cops pulled the corpse and forced it into the ambulance. Such police behavior is unacceptable.
