The funding for the construction of Bihar’s biggest bridge (29 kilometers) over the Gandak River in Bettiah has been authorized by the federal government. It will cost ₹1,977 crore to build.
Major Projects Gain Approval
The completion of it would facilitate travel from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh. Over ₹4,000 crore worth of road and bridge projects in Bihar have received approval from the national government. Nitin Naveen, the minister of road construction, has also requested that the federal government approve the remaining projects in the yearly plan as soon as possible.
During a review meeting of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ (MoRTH) and NHAI’s projects on Thursday, the Minister gathered comprehensive information regarding each project’s current state, land acquisition progress, utility shifting, contractor efficiency, construction material availability, and geographical challenges.
Key Infrastructure Projects Reviewed
The development of several significant projects, including major state-connecting highways, greenfield corridors, national highway segments of economic significance, and expressways, was explicitly debated during this time.
According to Minister Nitin Naveen, the state’s economic, commercial, and social growth depends on the seamless construction of national roads. He gave authorities instructions to make sure that all project deadlines are strictly followed and that quality is never compromised.
He made it clear that any projects that are experiencing delays because of administrative obstacles should be promptly rectified by working with the district administration. He gave NHAI and Road Construction Department engineers instructions to do more site inspections, promptly identify issues and submit reports, and schedule frequent review sessions with contractors.
