Bokaro Forest Guards Distribute Plants During Karam Festival

Nawadih’s woodlands are under the care of Mukesh Kumar Mahato, a forest guard in the forest department.

During the Karam festival, he is traveling from village to village, giving out Karam saplings and encouraging people to preserve the vegetation. According to Mukesh Kumar, he has ordered saplings from Uttar Pradesh and has already prepared them at the nursery.

Protecting Nature Through Karam

Mukesh Kumar, a forest guard of the forest department, is in charge of safeguarding Nawadih’s woods. During the Karam festival, Mukesh, who loves the outdoors, is traveling from village to village.

They disperse Karam seedlings once they arrive in Karam Akhara. In order to keep our planet covered in greenery, they force the villages to swear that they would not only plant these seedlings but also look after them. Karam seedlings have the potential to develop into trees. During the event, villagers might get its branches.

Actually, every village in Jharkhand celebrates the Karam festival these days. This celebration honors the Karam tree. This devotion sends the message that we must conserve the environment and safeguard nature. In this case, the locals are likewise grateful for the forest guard’s effort.

In addition to growing saplings at the nursery, Mukesh claims to have placed an order for seedlings from Uttar Pradesh. The goal he has set is to distribute around 10,000 seedlings. In only one week, he has already given over 3,000 saplings, and he is now dispersing the remaining number.

Distributing Saplings, Preserving Culture

Areas controlled by the indigenous Kudmi have been hosting Karam Puja from ancient times. The villagers carry a branch of Karam with drums and music on the day of the Karam celebration. By bringing the branch to the village, burying it in the Karam Akhara, and worshipping it, we are also protecting our culture.

According to Mukesh, he hails from Talgadia in Bokaro. Seeing hundreds of trees taken down for building makes me sad. I noticed, however, that the plants that the people revere are untrimmed. Then it occurred to me to distribute these plants.

The nursery is preparing sarhul plants

According to Mukesh, he has made the decision to give out nature-related plants at every nature-themed celebration. On Sarhul, the largest tribal event, he has promised to give around 10,000 Sakhua plants.

In the nursery, I am getting Sakhua seedlings ready. Distribution of these is required in almost all tribal villages. The task of looking after them will fall to the peasants.

This monsoon, the department has planted over a lakh seedlings

Mukesh claims that before the monsoon, the forest department had begun planting. In the last two and a half months, the forest department has planted more than one lakh saplings on its grounds. We have created trenches to keep livestock away from these seedlings. There are also nets in place for safety.

Distributed to attendees of the Karam Mahotsav were plants

According to Bhalmara resident Tulsi Kumar, a sizable crowd attended the village’s Karam Mahotsav. Here, Mukesh Kumar, a forest warden, gave away around 700 seedlings.

After receiving saplings, each person was required to swear to safeguard them. According to Niranjan Mahato of Narra village, our community has also received approximately 250 Karam seedlings. Mukesh Kumar is conserving the environment well.
