BSF Seizes ₹2.82 Crore Gold Near India-Bangladesh Border

After setting up an ambush close to the India-Bangladesh border, BSF personnel in Horandipur, South Bengal, caught an Indian smuggler and confiscated 20 gold biscuits valued at Rs 2.82 crore. The accurate intelligence inputs served as the foundation for the operation.

At the Horandipur Border Outpost (BOP) on the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal, the Border Security Force (BSF) on the South Bengal Frontier captured an Indian smuggler and confiscated gold biscuits valued at Rs 2.82 crore.

During the evening of October 11, BSF officers at the Horandipur BOP were able to get reliable information from confidential sources that someone from Muslimpara village, which is close to the India-Bangladesh border, was preparing to import illegally obtained gold from Bangladesh via the Horandipur region. Following the tip, the forces quickly increased their alertness and set up a unique ambush at the probable site in order to apprehend the smuggler.

The ambush crew saw a suspicious figure quietly creeping behind a thick bamboo thicket at around six in the morning. The soldiers immediately encircled him and captured him. They found a plastic package in his hands during the search, which had 20 gold biscuits totaling 2,332.66 grams in weight.

After being apprehended, the smuggler was transferred to the Horandipur BOP to be questioned. The detained smuggler and the confiscated gold biscuits, which were worth around Rs 2.82 crore, were then turned over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.

The BSF South Bengal Frontier Public Relations Officer confirmed the occurrence and praised the personnel’s promptness and vigilance. “The Border Security Force is maintaining a careful check on all types of unlawful activity along the India-Bangladesh international boundary with the assistance of its robust intelligence network and alert troops,” he added.
