Can Pakistan Qualify for Super 8 After IND vs PAK Loss?

At the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, India demonstrated their dominance over Pakistan by defeating the bitter rivals once more in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Pakistan was all out for 114 runs in 18 overs after chasing India’s 175/7, giving the Men in Blue their eighth victory in the tournament’s history. The only time Pakistan defeated India in the T20 World Cup was in 2021.

India currently has six points from three games after this victory. Following the United States of America’s (USA) victory over Namibia earlier in the day, Pakistan’s defeat dropped them to third place. Furthermore, Pakistan experienced a decline in its net run rate (NRR). With one game remaining, Pakistan has four points, while the United States has four points as well.

The United States now holds the second position in the Group A points table with an NRR of +0.787, while Pakistan’s is -0.403. Namibia is already out of the running for the Super 8s, while the Netherlands is in fourth place with two points.

What must Pakistan do to qualify for the Super 8?

For Pakistan, the computation is rather straightforward. They must win their match against Namibia on February 18 in order to finish with six points and advance to the next round. A defeat today would tie Pakistan and the United States on four points. Earlier today, the United States of America defeated Namibia.

Pakistan would like to see Suryakumar Yadav’s team defeat the Dutch in their last group encounter against India. The teams in second, third, and fourth place will all get four points if India loses the Netherlands and Pakistan loses Namibia. Who advances to the next stage will then depend on the NRR.
