TTE Catches Passenger Traveling in Sleeper With General Ticket

A traveler using a general ticket in sleeper class in Lucknow was found in possession of Rs 10.5 lakh. Based on the TTE’s information, GRP detained him.

Cash Seized on Train

Although he was unable to identify the source of the funds, he said that he was traveling to Azamgarh to purchase animals. The passenger is being questioned and the Income Tax Department is looking into the situation, but he was unable to provide hard evidence of the amount.

They discovered a man with a general ticket, traveling in sleeper class, carrying Rs. 10.5 lakhs. On the basis of the TTE’s information, GRP arrested the traveler. GRP notified the Income Tax Department in order to determine the source of such a substantial sum of money.

Shahzad Held With Cash

The passenger remained under interrogation till the late evening by the Income Tax Department personnel. The traveler was unable to provide any details on the source of the funds, however. He undoubtedly said that he was traveling to Azamgarh in order to purchase cows and other livestock from farmers for the purpose of slaughter.

A Baghpat native named Shahzad purchases and sells animals for the slaughterhouse. He took the Sadbhavana Express on Friday from Hapur to Lucknow. Shahzad got inside the sleeper bogie after buying a general ticket. Shahzad had arrived in Lucknow and was on his way to Azamgarh.

TTE Uncovers Huge Cash

Shehjad had a generic ticket, which the TTE discovered when they examined it during the trip. The TTE requested payment of the fine. The TTE discovered Rs 10.50 lakh in a bag with him while they were collecting the fine money.

Shahzad faced questions from the TTE over such a substantial sum of money. Shahzad was unable to provide a good response. The TTE sent this information to the RPF and GRP control room. The RPF detained Shahzad and turned him over to the GRP when the train arrived in Lucknow at 4 a.m. on Saturday. GRP notified the Department of Income Tax.

IT Dept Probes Shahzad

The team from the Income Tax Department continued to quiz Shahzad about his transactions and bank account throughout the day. Shahzad was unable to provide specific proof on the source of this funding, however. Officials from the Income Tax Department said he will need to provide proof of the source of the cash he is bringing on the train today.
