These sugarcane cultivars will now be available to Uttar Pradesh farmers. Because of this approval, sugar mills are unable to refuse to buy them on the grounds that they are undesirable. The All India Coordinated Sugarcane Research Project coordinator, Dr. Dinesh Singh, has issued an order approving these sugarcane cultivars.
Varieties Co-17018, Co-PB 17215, Co-S 16233, 17231, Co-18022, Co-PB 18213, and Co-P 16437 were grown by several farmers in various areas who brought sugarcane seeds from Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Sugar mills in a number of districts declined to purchase these types, claiming they were not from Uttar Pradesh.
The farmers protested as a result. Although many mills refuse to purchase these sugarcane varieties, farmers claim that they fall under the permitted categories.
Dr. Dinesh Singh, the coordinator of the All India Coordinated Sugarcane Research Project, has issued an order approving these kinds in response to the farmers’ protest. According to Bharatiya Kisan Union Apolitical District President Kulwant Singh Joshan, farmers were cultivating these types, but sugar mills would not purchase them. Farmers objected to this.
The government and the sugarcane department accepted these kinds in response to the farmers’ protests. The farmers will find this to be quite convenient. The Central Government has approved these sugarcane types, according to District Sugarcane Officer Ved Prakash Singh.
The district has already started buying these kind. Other states cultivate them heavily. In the district, these types are extremely uncommon. All sugar mills have received an instruction to buy these types.
