According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), a man in eastern China who won a Rs 11.6 crore lottery jackpot has come under fire for lavishly spending money on female livestreamers while providing his wife with nothing.
The woman, who only goes by her last name Yuan, told Henan TV that she felt “betrayed” after learning that her husband had mostly used his profits on internet hosts and gambling. 2016 saw the marriage of the pair, who were both from Dezhou in Shandong province.
Yuan claims that her husband earned Rs 9.4 crore (8.14 million yuan) after taxes after winning the lottery on December 17 of last year. She remarked, “At first, I was just as delighted as he was.” “He said I could use the money to purchase whatever I wanted.”
Additionally, he handed her a bank card that he said had Rs 3.4 crore. Yuan claimed she stored the card in a drawer and never checked the balance because she trusted him.
Her husband’s behavior soon altered. He stopped giving her money and started gambling during the day and watching and tipping ladies who streamed online at night. The SCMP claims that he left a single tip of Rs 1.4 crore to one live-streamer.
Yuan confronted her husband at a train station in July after learning he was traveling with the same lady. Later, she was able to access chat logs that revealed her husband referring to the lady as “honey” and calling himself “hubby.” He asked her in one message, “What type of elderly guy do you like? What about a wealthy elderly guy like me?
Yuan then discovered there were no funds on the bank card. She informed him, “You have treated me unjustly,” according to SCMP. “I have contributed so much to our family. Are you morally upright?
She said that at one point, her husband had expressed his desire for “a live-streamer to deliver a kid” for him. Yuan said, “I considered living with him for the rest of my life until he got this lottery jackpot.” But in an instance, he deceived me. He should never have won the lottery, in my opinion.
The spouse did not retract what he had done. “I have used up all the funds. She has now filed for divorce from me. “Let the court make all the decisions,” he told reporters.
Henan Zhongdi Law Firm attorney Xi Junqi informed SCMP that lottery wins earned during a marriage are regarded as joint property. “The woman might seek the court to prevent the husband from sharing the assets if his tipping significantly surpasses typical family spending,” Xi said.
He went on to say that the wife might request a refund if the tipping was connected to “an unethical connection” with the live-streamer.
