Chongqing Airport Sees Foreign Arrival Surge for Spring Festival

There is an increase in passenger traffic at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport as the Chinese New Year holiday draws near.

During the Spring Festival travel period, the airport has handled over 100,000 passengers and over 800 flights, a nearly 50% increase over the previous year.

Over 20,000 people entered and left the country as foreign nationals, representing a rise of more than 100 percent from the previous year. From February 15 to 23, the airport anticipates handling about 80,000 passenger trips.

During the Chinese New Year holiday period, that amounts to an average of more than 8,000–500 every day, with a daily peak of more than 10,000 anticipated.

“I come to China to celebrate New Year’s Eve and then I will stay here to study because I studied after I got to university,” said Italian international student Linda Cirri. I am hoping to enjoy myself here.

A French visitor to IREM Bayer “We adore Chongqing because of its lively atmosphere, the lights all over the place, its nickname, Cyber Punk City, and its enormous skyscrapers. We adore it, and it is quite lovely.”

ANDREA COLOSIO, an Italian visitor “I had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year in China two years ago. The atmosphere was noticeably livelier, happier, and the streets were brimming with merchandise.
