An official announced on Saturday that the Delhi Traffic Police has introduced a specialized “Digital Lok Adalat” program to guarantee quicker and easier resolution of traffic challans.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) collaborated to develop the system as part of a technology-driven initiative to expedite services connected to traffic enforcement and
lessen the delays that residents experience, the official stated. The Delhi Traffic Police claims that under the current system, citizens frequently experienced significant delays in the updating of notifications and challans resolved during Lok Adalat proceedings.
A technical solution to these problems is the Digital Lok Adalat system, which allows for quicker disposal and real-time progress information.
The recently launched portal guarantees real-time updating of challans that have been disposed of and offers universal access to traffic challan data. Additionally, vehicle owners will receive SMS updates regarding the status of their challans and notices’ disposal.
Updates made through the Digital Lok Adalat will automatically appear on all linked platforms thanks to the platform’s integration with the virtual court system. According to the official, this integration should increase overall efficiency, cut down on procedural delays, and avoid duplication of effort.
According to police, the system would help streamline court procedures because challan and notice details will be automatically shown in the application, minimizing the possibility of human data entry errors and drastically reducing citizen waiting times.
The effort is anticipated to minimize manual processing and clerical errors, improve transparency in Lok Adalat procedures, speed up settlement for car owners, and lessen the backlog of pending traffic challans.
According to officials, the system has already been put into place and is being used in Special Lok Adalat sessions at the moment. There have been 1,92,444 challans and notices downloaded for settlement in the present Lok Adalat.
The site now shows the current disposal status of 1,25,678 challans and notices. The owners of the corresponding vehicles have simultaneously received SMS messages on their registered mobile numbers regarding the disposal status.
