Gold Prices in Chandigarh Soar to Record ₹1.26 Lakh Ahead of Dhanteras

Tricity jewelers said that they anticipated gold’s price to rise due to the high demand during Dhanteras.

In Chandigarh, gold prices have reached an all-time high. On Sunday, the 24-carat variety sold for Rs 1,26,000 per 10 kilos. In contrast, the price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold increased to Rs 1,15,900.

Over the last several days, gold prices have been rising steadily. On Friday, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold, or yellow metal, was Rs 1,25,500.

Tricity jewelers said that they anticipated Dhanteras would make gold more valuable.

The Chandigarh Jewellers Association‘s president, Rajeev Sahdev, told The Indian Express that Dhanteras might raise the price of 24-carat gold to Rs 1.30 lakh every 10 kilos. The tariff was Rs 80,000 last Diwali and Rs 55,000 in 2023.

“Those who must buy gold will do so on Dhanteras even if they buy half of the customary amount,” Sahdev said, adding that the high prices would not depress anybody.
