IndiGo to Launch Daily Kolkata–Guangzhou Flights from Oct 26

On October 3, 2025, reservations for the Kolkata–Guangzhou route will be available on IndiGo’s official website and mobile app.

On Thursday, IndiGo said that it would start operating nonstop daily flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou on October 26, 2025. A Delhi route will follow after regulatory approval. The airline will run twice-daily flights from Delhi and Kolkata to Guangzhou.

Following the Ministry of External Affairs’ (MEA) declaration on Thursday that direct passenger flights between China and India would resume by the end of October 2025, IndiGo took this action.

The airline declares that it will use Airbus A320neo planes on these routes.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said, “We are looking at adding additional direct flights into China with this very crucial step. This is an important step to fortify our worldwide network as we make steady progress toward becoming a major player in the aviation industry.”

As part of larger efforts to progressively repair ties between the neighboring nations after years of interruption, the Ministry of External Affairs said Thursday that direct passenger flights between China and India will resume by late October 2025.

This year, civil aviation officials from both countries have had technical-level talks on renewing air services and revising the Air Services Agreement, the MEA said. Subject to the approved carriers’ commercial choices and the fulfillment of operational requirements, the ministry affirmed that direct flight services between specified places in China and India may restart by late October 2025, in line with the winter timetable.

The COVID-19 epidemic forced the suspension of direct passenger flights between India and China, forcing passengers to use transit hubs like Singapore, Bangkok, or Hong Kong.
