The High Court heard a public interest lawsuit calling for improvements to the traffic system in Hazaribagh.
High Court Traffic Orders
The court has ordered all necessary preparations to ensure the seamless operation of the traffic system. The court has requested the installation of CCTV, an automated traffic signal monitoring system, and other devices. During the hearing, the city administrator and DC SP for Hazaribagh were in the courtroom.
Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar‘s division bench of the High Court heard a public interest case on Thursday that called for improvements to the Hazaribagh traffic system.
Court Directs Traffic Upgrade
The court has mandated the completion of all necessary measures in order to guarantee a smooth traffic system.

The court questioned the authorities about why they were not adhering to the previous directives to upgrade the traffic system. The Deputy Commissioner estimates that the cost of installing the automated traffic light monitoring system would be Rs 38.90 crore.
Permission Delay in Traffic Plan
The Urban Development Department has received the paperwork for this. The department has not yet granted permission. In order to inform the court of the number of days it would take to obtain permission, the Chief Justice instructed the DC to speak with the secretary immediately. After then, the court temporarily rescheduled the hearing.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the court during the resumption of the hearing that if four weeks are allowed, all preparations would be made. There will be easy traffic. October 7 will mark the case’s next hearing. The court ordered a speedy improvement to Hazaribagh’s traffic system.
Court Orders Strict Enforcement
Install CCTV cameras and keep them in good operating order. The court ordered the authorities to clear the roadside of encroachments and make sure they do not recur.
Asked to put an end to triple riding on two-wheelers, pressure horns, and black eyewear. Directed to take action against driving without a helmet, triple riding, and failing to use a seat belt. The attorney for the petitioner took issue with the government’s response.
CCTV Failures and Regulation
He said that the company had stated in their response that every CCTV camera was operational, but this was untrue. The CCTV camera in the city is obviously malfunctioning whenever a crime occurs and the press reports it.
The petitioner claimed that all of the CCTV cameras were not operational and displayed the news articles from the newspapers. By providing incorrect responses, the business has deceived the court. According to the court, the city’s e-rickshaw population is steadily growing.
The court also decided that regulation of e-rickshaws is necessary. Before this context, Achyut Swaroop Mishra has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the High Court.
