Rain Triggers Landslide Chaos
Following the deaths of three pilgrims, the Mani Mahesh Yatra in Himachal was postponed.
Eight red alert district – Jammu and Kashmir
The constant rains have an impact on life in the hill states. Additionally, water from the Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir rivers has inundated several regions in Punjab. In numerous locations in Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, landslides brought on by rain have forced the closure of important highways.

There has also been a rain warning for Tuesday in these states. Three Punjabi pilgrims who had traveled to Himachal Pradesh for the well-known Manimahesh Yatra perished from oxygen deprivation.
Manimahesh Yatra Halted Temporarily
The Chamba government has temporarily halted the Manimahesh Yatra after the meteorological department‘s caution in Himachal. The Manimahesh Yatra has around 800 pilgrims stuck between Hadsar and Dal.
Himachal schools closed due to heavy rains
Pong Dam Water Level Rises in Kangra District. At Chhadol on Chandigarh-Manali NH, close to Bilaspur-Swarghat, a landslide struck two cars. The districts of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Una will also have no schools or Anganwadi centers open on Tuesday due to the severe rain warning.

On Monday, snowfall fell in Baralacha, Rohtang, Khardungla, as well as Shinkula Pass. The route between Manali and Leh is closed. A luxury bus heading from Chandigarh to Manali on Monday was struck by falling stones at Jagatkhana along the Kiratpur-Nerchowk four-lane in Bilaspur district, leaving four passengers injured.
Red alert in eight Jammu districts
For the second day in a row, Jammu and Kashmir had heavy rain on Monday, with some areas seeing light rain as well.
For the next two days, between Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, the Meteorological Department has issued a red signal in eight districts of the Jammu division and an alert in three districts of Kashmir. Landslides, floods, along with cloudbursts are all possible at this time.
However, in the districts of Udhampur and Reasi, intense rains caused damage to over a dozen kutcha dwellings, and landslides forced the closure of several connecting highways.
In Kashmir, snow has fallen in Shri Amarnath Cave, Zoji La, Afarbat above Gulmarg, and Rajdhan Pass. After repairs, traffic has resumed on the Jammu-Pathankot Highway‘s Sahar Khad bridge in Kathua. Tawi, Chenab, and Jhelum‘s water levels have gone up.

Jammu schools closed due to heavy rains
The Directorate of School Education has directed all public and private schools in the Jammu division to stay closed on Tuesday as well due to the weather.
In Uttarakhand, landslides and rain have impacted life. The state has had disruptions due to rain. There was mild rain all day Monday and heavy rain on Sunday evening.
Damage to the roadway has forced the postponement of the pilgrimages to Gangotri and Yamunotri, while landslides at regular intervals are also interfering with the pilgrimages to Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham.

Landslides have blocked over 90 of the state’s connected roadways. Dehradun, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, and Nainital schools were all closed on Monday due to the rain warning. In many districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, and Uttarkashi, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow signal for rain.
The Ranjit Sagar Dam’s flood gates all opened
The Ranjit Sagar Dam in Pathankot has opened all seven of its flood gates for the first time since 2007 as a result of the rains in Jammu and Himachal. This has raised the Ravi River‘s water level and caused flooding in the nearby communities.
Tash, a border community, is experiencing flooding, and the government has begun evacuating its residents. The construction of the bridge across the Chakki River on the Pathankot-Jalandhar National Highway, however, did not begin construction on Monday.
