Maruti: Last year, the business sold over 41,500 Dhanteras units, which was its best sales to date.
While competitor Hyundai Motor India reported more than 20% increase over the previous year at over 14,000 units, auto industry leader Maruti Suzuki India announced on Saturday that it anticipates record sales on Dhanteras clocking over 50,000 units.
Dhanteras is celebrated over two days this year instead of only Saturday and Sunday as it was previous year. In an interview with reporters, Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales Partho Banerjee said that the business anticipates reaching around 41,000 deliveries today, despite the fact that many consumers are hesitant to purchase the metal on Saturday.
“This is going to be the most deliveries we have ever made in a given time span. Additionally, we anticipate an additional 10,000 consumers who were hesitant to accept the delivery today since it was Saturday; they will accept it tomorrow,” he said. “We are expected to reach even the 50,000 level,” he said. In order to satisfy Dhanteras’ demand, the company’s manufacturing crew is also working on holidays, according to Banerjee.
According to him, the company’s Dhanteras sales peaked last year at over 41,500 pieces. Many buyers are swarming to showrooms because of the “GST 2.0 magic,” he added, adding that in many locations the firm would not be able to provide cars unless reservations and deliveries are made on time.
Tarun Garg, MD & CEO Designate of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, expressed similar sentiments, saying, “We are observing robust customer demand, with deliveries estimated to be about 14,000 vehicles, 20% more than last year.” The holiday mood, a thriving market, and the favorable effects of the GST 2.0 changes are what are driving the upward momentum.
He said that since Dhanteras falls on a Saturday this year, delivery are spaced out across many days. Banerjee said that Maruti Suzuki has had excellent momentum and has been “getting close to 14,000 reservations per day on average” when asked about the company’s total holiday season sales beginning with Navratri.
“nearly 4.5 lakh reservations have arrived in one month and small vehicle booking is nearly nearing one lakh,” he added, referring to the company’s pricing reduction on September 18. We have already made contact with about 94,000 little autos. Regarding retail, he said, “The business has sold about 3.25 lakh units in this one-month period.”
“This Dhanteras, we are experiencing a good customer turnout since morning, with solid demand across product categories,” said Sandeep Sehgal, director of Panasonic Life Solutions and head of sales for the consumer business. “Large screen TVs, especially those that are 55 inches and larger, are driving the movement,” he said, adding that from October 1 to October 17, the 4K sales increased by more than 36%.
In comparison to last year’s Dhanteras, we expect both the TVs and RAC categories to expand by around 30% overall. “We are witnessing a solid mix of transactions – from investment-driven buys beyond Rs 2 lakh to strong demand for lightweight jewelry and gold coins around Dhanteras,” said Arun, Senior Vice President of Tanishq.
Metros and Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns have continuously responded favorably to this holiday season, which has been consistently good across markets, he noted. According to Haier Appliances India, luxury items like front-loading washing machines, side-by-side refrigerators, and large-screen TVs are driving the strong sell-out this Dhanteras. “We anticipate growth of over 50%,” said N S Satish, President of Haier India.
He claims that the government’s recent round of GST amendments, which lowered taxes on items like air conditioners, TVs (with screens 32 inches and larger), and dishwashers, has contributed to the rise. Additionally, shoppers now have more money in their pockets as a result of the duty cut on other everyday necessities.
