Maruti Suzuki September Sales Jump 52%, Targets 4 Lakh FY25 Exports

The biggest carmaker in India had a 52% increase in exports in September, shipping 42,204 units overseas as opposed to 27,728 units in the same month the previous year.

Exports Rise, FY25 Target

According to a top business official, Maruti Suzuki India is expected to export more than four lakh vehicles this fiscal year after shipping more than two lakh units between April and September.

The biggest carmaker in India had a 52% increase in exports in September, shipping 42,204 units overseas as opposed to 27,728 units in the same month the previous year.

We delivered more than 2.07 lakh units between April and September, and we exported almost 1.10 lakh units in the first quarter. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) of Maruti Suzuki, said, “This puts us on pace to fulfill our four lakh unit estimate for the fiscal.”

Maruti Exports Lead Market

Bharti emphasized that Maruti has a distinct advantage in international shipping, reflecting its domination in the Indian domestic market, with exports more than twice as high as those of its nearest domestic rival. He pointed out that while there are eighteen competitors in the market, Maruti Suzuki’s exports are more than twice as large as those of the closest exporter in the nation.

In comparison to four years ago, when yearly exports were about one lakh units, he again emphasized the rising trend. “We have already surpassed one lakh units in the second quarter of this year alone,” Bharti said. For comparison, Maruti exported 96,139 units in total in FY 2020–21.

Made-in-India EV Demand

Additionally, the business sold 6,068 units of its electric model, eVITARA, in August and September, indicating that demand for Made in India EVs is increasing internationally. This is “a really powerful signal for Make in India and for the globe,” according to Bharti.

He said that better international auto exports are a result of India’s recent free trade agreements. Sub-4 meter vehicles including the Fronx, Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire were Maruti’s best-selling exports in the first half of the fiscal year.

South Africa, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Chile, and Colombia were important foreign markets that together accounted for the largest amounts of Maruti’s exports abroad.
