Jaishankar to Represent India at UNGA; Modi Skips US Trip

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided not to go to the United States to take part in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting. In his stead, the foreign minister, S. Jaishankar, will be present at this meeting.

The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly will start on September 9.

The session will run from September 23 to 29.

It will include high-level discussions.

The updated list now includes this information. America will address the General Assembly after Brazil’s opening remarks.

A significant piece of information has surfaced amid claims of animosity between America and India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had originally planned to go to America for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting, but he has chosen not to go. In his substitute, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will be present at this meeting.

The updated list from the UNGA conference now includes this information. The United Nations General Assembly’s 80th session will start on September 9. At the same time, from September 23 to 29, the UNGA will host high-level sessions.

Brazil’s statement will open this gathering, and then America will speak to the UNGA General Assembly. This will include US President Donald Trump’s address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 23. Meanwhile, on September 27, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will speak to the UNGA General Assembly.

Jaishankar to Address UNGA

Let us remind you that PM Modi’s name was on the list of UNGA speakers that was made public earlier in July. PM Modi had scheduled his speech at the UNGA on September 26.

However, the amended roster now includes Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, who will address the General Assembly on September 27, in place of Prime Minister Modi. This is not the last list, however. This list may undergo more modifications.
