The Nagpur Chamber of Commerce Limited (NCCL) has petitioned the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court for an extension of the deadline for assessees covered by tax audits to submit their returns.
The chamber requests more time to file the returns so that there is time to submit the audit reports as well.
According to NCCL President Kailash Jogani, the current deadline for filing returns is October 31.
Submitting the tax audit reports is also required one month prior to that date. According to him, extending the deadline for submitting returns would provide company owners more time to complete the tax audit as well. On behalf of the chamber, Jogani signed the writ.
According to Jogani, the income tax agency sent the return filing forms late, thus the chamber has requested more time to file returns.
