NER Announces 145 Special Trains for Chhath Festival

Pankaj Kumar Singh, the North Eastern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), said that the number of special trains operating is at an all-time high.

North Eastern Railway has announced 145 special puja trains that would operate nonstop till all of the passengers return after the Chhath holiday in consideration of the increased passenger volume during the celebrations.

According to Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for North Eastern Railway, the number of special trains operating is at an all-time high.

“Special preparations have been made for the passengers; special trains are being operated in record numbers,” Pankaj Kumar Singh told ANI in reference to the Diwali and Chhath celebrations. There have been notifications of 145 special puja trains, 95 of which are leaving from the North Eastern Railway. During Diwali, around two lakh people arrived here in the previous 24 hours.

He said that the railway is always working to ensure that people can commute safely.

“After Chhath, these trains will operate nonstop till every passenger has returned. The major train stations have established passenger holding zones and developed crowd control procedures. Passenger holding spaces now have all the amenities, including a public speech system, a train display board, extra lights, and a RO facility. There have also been more security troops deployed,” he said.

For Diwali and Chhath Puja, North Western Railway has previously made special arrangements, with 44 pairs of special trains operating to and from popular stations including Mumbai, Pune, Howrah, and neighboring areas of Bihar.

To control passenger rush and guarantee smooth travel, additional coaches, volunteers, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been stationed at stations, North Western Railway’s Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), informed ANI.

“North Western Railways arranged special arrangements for the festivals of Diwali and Chhath. There are now 44 pairs of special trains running from stations with high demand, including Howrah, Pune, Mumbai, and the surrounding areas of Bihar. We are determining if more special trains are necessary. We can run more trains with permission. In addition, we have expanded the number of coaches on the almost 60 regular trains that are now in operation by 174. To lessen platform congestion, we are setting up holding spaces in big stations like Jaipur,” he said.

Social media accounts that post “misleading” videos on railway operations will face severe repercussions from Indian Railways.

According to a statement from the railroads, certain social media accounts have been spreading outdated or deceptive movies over this holiday season, confusing travelers.

According to the railway authorities, more than 20 of these social media accounts have been located, and the FIR filing procedure has begun. We have implemented a round-the-clock social media monitoring system to closely monitor such disruptive elements.

The railroad has issued a warning to all social media users not to post footage of crowds or other events at stations without first confirming the information. The Ministry of Railways’ authorized social media accounts, such as @RailMinIndia on X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, and official railway alerts are the sole sources of accurate information for passengers.
