NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang Skips India AI Summit Due to Illness

NVIDIA managing director for South Asia, Vishal Dhupar, responded to inquiries about CEO Jensen Huang’s absence at the India AI Impact Summit by stating that the senior official was ill following weeks of intensive travel and that Jay Puri would be leading the company delegation.

People were inquiring about the CEO of NVIDIA wherever he went, according to Dhupar. We all miss Jensen, do not we? “Everyone is asking (about) Jensen wherever I go,” he remarked.

“Jensen has flown for three straight weeks, he acquired a bug, he is under the weather,” Dhupar said in response to a question about Huang’s decision to cancel his trip to India soon before the Summit.

“We are thrilled to have Jay Puri leading a delegation to come here in India and celebrate this very significant week where the India AI impact conference will demonstrate the potential of India,” he said, adding that he hoped he would recover quickly.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on Tuesday that attendance at the AI Summit is a personal choice, despite the absence of some well-known tech figures, such as NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. He added that the NVIDIA CEO had communicated his inability to attend due to unforeseen circumstances and assigned a senior executive to represent the company.

Policymakers, business executives, and technology specialists have gathered for the India AI Impact Summit, one of the nation’s biggest international conferences on AI. Discussions about AI innovation, governance, and practical applications are taking place in New Delhi.

Huang was one of the most well-known international technology experts anticipated to attend the India AI Impact Summit, and there was a lot of talk about his attendance in the days preceding the Summit.

However, Huang decided not to go to New Delhi. At the AI Summit, a senior executive represents the company.

“The decision of some individuals to not attend is a personal one. I do not want to talk about it. During a briefing at the India AI Summit on Tuesday, Vaishnaw stated, “Jensen Huang reached out to us, and he said that because of something extremely unavoidable… he has deputed his most senior executive to join us.”

NVIDIA is also collaborating with Indian businesses, the minister noted, “for some very big investments in AI infrastructure.”

The minister had also mentioned, “They are also collaborating with several software businesses for building many use cases,”
