Free power Scheme: Families that install rooftop solar panels may get up to a 60% government subsidy under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which entitles them to up to 300 units of free power each month.
Through the use of sustainable energy, this program helps to safeguard the environment while simultaneously producing considerable savings on power costs.
By participating in the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, thousands of low-income households in Chhattisgarh are able to alleviate the burden of their power bills. Under this initiative, people may put solar panels on their roofs and eliminate the monthly power expenditures of 2,000 to 3,000 rupees.
Ramakant, a villager, claims that this program has enabled him to save money for other necessities for his family. He expresses his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing the impoverished with the gift of power.
The scheme’s goal and advantages
Installing rooftop solar systems up to 3 kW in houses nationwide and providing 300 units of free power per month via a 60% subsidy are the main goals of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. About 10 million households would be able to save about ₹15,000 crore a year thanks to this.
In addition to lowering electricity costs, this plan will enhance the usage of clean, green energy and lessen power disruptions. In order to provide advantages for all facets of society, the government offers solar panel installation opportunities via a computerized application system at the state and panchayat levels.
Additionally, this is generating new job possibilities in fields like solar panel manufacturing, installation, and maintenance.
Application Procedure and Subsidy
For rooftop panel installations up to three kilowatts, the government offers a ₹78,000 subsidy, or ₹30,000 per kilowatt. Applicants must register on the official website, pmsuryaghar.gov.in, by entering their state, energy distribution company, customer number, cellphone number, and email address. This is a straightforward registration procedure.
Upon application and discom feasibility approval, a registered vendor installs the solar system. After the installation is finished, a net meter is installed to confirm the system, and the subsidy is sent straight into the bank account. Beneficiaries will not have any difficulties since this procedure is entirely online and open.
The environment and a sustainable energy future
The PM Surya Ghar Yojana is a significant step toward energy independence and environmental preservation, not only a plan to conserve power. In addition to advancing the nation’s green energy agenda, this Government of India project is boosting regional economies. This program has encouraged energy self-sufficiency, which will increase the usage of renewable energy and lower pollution in the future.
Particularly for the impoverished in rural and urban areas, this program is proven to be beneficial since it allows them to use power for free instead of having to pay high rates.
