Rail Neer Price Cut
Rail Neer bottled water is now much cheaper, which is excellent news for rail travelers. Indian Railways (IR) has made the decision to lower the maximum retail price (MRP) of its iconic bottled drinking water brand in response to the recent reduction in GST rates.
The Railway Board, through an official circular dated September 20, 2025, informed all General Managers and the CMD of IRCTC that the maximum retail price of ‘Rail Neer’ packaged drinking water has been reduced — from ₹15 to ₹14 for a one-litre bottle, and from ₹10 to ₹9 for a 500 ml bottle.
Other Brands Price Reduction
The Board also made it clear that the move will not just affect Rail Neer. The letter further said that the maximum retail price of packaged drinking water bottles of other brands that were selected by IRCTC and Railways and sold in railway buildings or trains will be changed from Rs 15 to Rs 14 per one-liter bottle and from Rs 10 to Rs 9 each 500-ml bottle.
In order to guarantee that passengers immediately benefit from the GST cut, this price reduction will take effect on September 22, 2025. The ruling demonstrates Indian Railways’ determination to promptly provide tax relief to customers.
Rail Neer Legacy Continues
IRCTC’s 2003 debut of Rail Neer, a hallmark product designed to improve passenger amenities and provide a clean drinking water supply aboard, is not just ordinary bottled water brand. In order to serve Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains departing from New Delhi and Nizamuddin, the first Rail Neer facility was built at Nangloi, West Delhi.
A one-liter bottle now costs Rs 14 instead of Rs 15, and a half-liter bottle now costs Rs 9 instead of Rs 10. This lowering will result in a little but welcome decrease in onboard costs for travelers traveling across India’s extensive railway network.
