As Patna prepares for the 77th Republic Day, district officials are stressing the need of security and grandeur at Gandhi Maidan. District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan SM inspected the grounds on Monday in advance of the event, going over plans and giving staff instructions to make sure everything was done according to protocol.

Arrivals from Bari Path, Nala Road, Thakurbari, Bakarganj, Exhibition Road, Fraser Road, TN Banerjee Road, and Chhajjubagh will use gate 7, while those arriving via JP Ganga Path, Ashok Rajpath, Golghar, Mandiri, Buddha Colony, and connected roads will utilize gates 5 and 6. Media representatives will enter through gate 9. According to officials, this setup aims to improve security and expedite crowd movement.

The entire venue is now more secure. 128 CCTV cameras will be used to monitor Gandhi Maidan and its surrounds, while 18 watchtowers have been set up for round-the-clock security. In order to react quickly to any disturbances, a makeshift police station and control room will also be open all day.

Zone-wise Administration and Oversight

The Maidan has been divided into four zones and other sub-sectors to enhance administrative oversight. Each zone is overseen by officers with the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police or Additional District Magistrate. Strict rules are being followed in the arrangement of seating, access routes, signs, and information boards.

Improved illumination has strengthened security at night. With 136 LED metal lights, 229 pole lights, and 15 high-mast lights, the Maidan will be well-lit throughout to enable early detection of any suspicious activities.
