The usage of smartphones will be subject to a new regulation in Toyoake City, Japan.
This would restrict city people to using their phones for no more than two hours per day. Although there will be no consequences for breaking this regulation, according to Mayor Masami Koki, its goal is to shield people from the harmful effects of excessive smartphone usage.

As a result, there are several initiatives underway worldwide to cut down on screen time.
There will now be a two-hour daily smartphone use limit for inhabitants of Toyoake city in Japan, according to reports in the Japanese media.
In addition to job and school commitments, Toyokake Mayor Masami Koki said that the municipal assembly would soon vote on a draft legislation that would let citizens to use computers, cellphones, alongwith tablets for up to two hours each day.

If approved, the regulation will take effect in Toyoke in October. Let us inform you that in 2020, the Japanese city of Kagawa already created and put into effect such a regulation.
What happens if someone breaks the rules?
Koki said that breaking this regulation would not result in any monetary fines or legal repercussions. According to him, the two-hour screen time restriction is only a recommendation.

According to a March poll, young people in Japan use PCs, tablets, and cell phones for an average of five hours per day. According to Koki, using a phone excessively might result in issues including poor sleep and mental wellness.

After school, students will only have two hours to use their gadgets.
Older children should not use their phones after 10 p.m., and children in classes 1 through 5 should not use them after 9 p.m..
