Women Empowered for Solar

Tata Power Delhi Distribution has introduced the Solar Sakhi Abhiyan, a project aimed at empowering women and encouraging the use of sustainable energy, in line with the Government of India’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Pooth Khurd Village hosted the launch celebration in honor of Navratra.

Neeraj Semwal, GNCTD’s Secretary (Power); Ravi Dadhich, Special Secretary (Power); Kumar Abhishek, Dwijadas Basak, CEO, Tata Power-DDL; Kiran Gupta, Chief Commercial, Tata Power-Delhi Distribution; Bharat Chhabra, Chief-SIG, Tata Power-Delhi Distribution; Rahul Kumar, Head-Special Customer Management & Solar; and Shashank Sharma, HoD-G&I, NBS & Solar, were among the guests at the ceremony.

They will educate homes about sustainable energy options, raise awareness of the advantages of rooftop solar, and serve as a liaison between communities and government policy in more than 75 Tata Power-Delhi Distribution villages. Every Solar Sakhi has received a unique jacket, which stands for pride, authority, and acknowledgment.

Delhi Launches Women-Led Solar Initiative

“The Government of Delhi is dedicated to fostering renewable energy and inclusive development,” said Neeraj Semwal, Secretary (Power), GNCTD, in reference to the program. By guaranteeing that women, who are the foundation of our society, take the lead in promoting the advantages of rooftop solar, programs like Solar Sakhi Abhiyan serve to reinforce this goal. In addition to lessening reliance on traditional energy, this action will further the goal of sustainable development.

With the help of Tata Power-Delhi Distribution’s Village Customer Group (VCG) Solar, the initiative seeks to advance India’s clean energy goal while enhancing the role of women in sustainable development.

“The inauguration of the Solar Sakhi campaign is a laudable effort as Tata Power-Delhi Distribution has been doing various steps of sustainability, including rooftop solar, and spreading awareness among communities,” said Anju Aman Dabas, Hon’ble Councilor, Pooth Khurd. It displays Tata Power-Delhi Distribution’s dedication to environmental responsibility and women-centered development. Being the birthplace of such an important project makes our community proud.

Empowering Women for Sustainable Energy

At the event, Tata Power-DDL CEO Dwijadas Basak discussed his goal of combining inclusion and sustainability.

“Our goal has always been to combine inclusion with sustainability. A testament to Tata Power-Delhi Distribution’s commitment to women-led advancement is the Solar Sakhi Abhiyan. We are developing leaders who will lead communities toward a greener and better future by empowering women to become solar energy ambassadors,” he stated.

“The introduction of the Solar Sakhi Abhiyan represents a critical step towards sustainable and inclusive development,” said Kiran Gupta, Chief—Customer Experience, Commercial and Govt Affairs, EAC and Consumer Litigation, Tata Power-Delhi Distribution. In addition to reflecting Tata Power-Delhi Distribution’s dedication to women-led community advancement and environmental responsibility, empowering women to serve as rooftop solar ambassadors supports the Delhi Government’s goal of adopting renewable energy.
