In accordance with the Vision 2035 plan, the two leaders will meet in Mumbai on October 9 to assess the status of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Starmer’s First India Visit
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer would make his first official trip to India on October 8–9, at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s request.
In keeping with the Vision 2035 plan, the two leaders will meet in Mumbai on October 9 to discuss the status of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. According to a statement from MEA, the 10-year framework encompasses collaboration in the areas of trade and investment, technology, defense, energy, climate change, health, education, and people-to-people relationships.
Leaders to Boost Trade Ties
According to the ministry, PM Modi and PM Starmer are also anticipated to meet with representatives of business and industry to talk about prospects under the planned Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which is a crucial component of the economic engagement between India and the UK. Additionally, the two leaders will discuss regional and international challenges.
Both leaders will give keynote presentations at the sixth edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, where they will network with entrepreneurs, politicians, and industry experts.
There will be a great opportunity to reiterate India’s and the UK’s shared objective of forging a partnership that looks to the future, the ministry said. “The visit will build on the momentum and substance produced by Prime Minister Modi’s July 23–24, 2025, visit to the UK.”
