TCS Suspends Middle East Travel, Advises Staff to Stay Indoors

As geopolitical tensions rise, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the biggest provider of IT services in India, has advised its employees in the Middle East to stay home and suspended all business travel to and from the region due to flight problems.

The IT company has instructed all of its employees to stay indoors and refrain from traveling beyond the area, according to an internal memo that Moneycontrol was able to view. TCS is contacting the affected employees about this.

“All of our associates have been instructed to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and closely adhere to local authorities’ instructions in light of the continuing geopolitical developments in the Middle East. Due to the closure of airspace in a number of nations, TCS has halted all incoming and outgoing traffic, including transit, to and from the Middle East, the advice stated.

The human resources and country leadership teams at TCS have initiated a call tree service to prioritize reaching out to stranded workers in the affected and adjacent areas.

The country leadership and HR teams keep a careful eye on the safety and well-being of our employees and their families in all locations. In order to monitor developments, we are also working closely with the Indian Embassies and local authorities. As the situation changes, we will keep providing immediate updates. Our top focus continues to be the security and welfare of our colleagues and their families,” the message continued.

According to its website, TCS presently employs approximately 9,110 people in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) area, providing services to over 150 clients in 11 different industries.

While traveling to attend the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, a number of senior executives from other IT heavyweights, such as Infosys and HCLTech, have also become stuck in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
