Fire Disrupts Pharma Production
On Friday, Aurobindo Pharma said that a fire incident at Unit-IV of its wholly-owned subsidiary APL Healthcare Ltd. in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, had temporarily disrupted production.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, a short circuit caused a minor fire event in granulation area-10 of Unit IV of APL Healthcare, located in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh (SEZ Unit), on September 18, 2025, at around 8:50 am.
The fire extended to a panel, causing partial damage to granulation area-8 and damaging granulation area-10. It also said that two of the 19 lines in the aforementioned unit had been affected for almost two weeks.
Operations to Resume Soon
According to the firm, there were no fatalities or injuries as the fire was quickly contained by the on-site fire hydrant crew with assistance from outside fire tenders. An estimated 3% of the unit’s monthly capacity was temporarily affected in terms of output as a consequence of the event.
The affected areas should be operational in the next weeks, according to Aurobindo Pharma, which states that the necessary procedures for renovation and restoration have already begun. It also said that the incident has no significant financial or operational ramifications and that the firm has taken all necessary precautions to guarantee worker safety, asset protection, and business continuity.
