Uttar Pradesh is targeting a solar power capacity of 22,000 megawatts (Mw) by 2027–2028, which anticipates the development of public and private sector solar projects valued at around ₹35,000 crore. Among these initiatives is the construction of seven 3,700 Mw solar energy plants around the state.

“Prominent renewable energy companies, such as National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC), and Avaada Group, among others, will establish these solar power projects,” UP Additional Chief Secretary for Energy and Alternative Energy Sources Narendra Bhooshan told Business Standard.
