After reviewing the state’s law and order situation on Wednesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the police to take a zero-tolerance stance against crime, emphasizing prompt legal action, closer surveillance of offenders, and transparent accountability at all levels.
Rule of Law Priority
Dhami gave the Director General of Police (DGP) instructions to make sure that all criminal incidences are quickly reported and pursued through efficient, goal-oriented policing while chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s house. According to him, upholding the rule of law and public safety continues to be the top priority for the government.
The Chief Minister directed officials to bolster intelligence collection and keep a close eye on repeat offenders, placing particular attention on organized and persistent crime. He asserted that strict enforcement of current laws is necessary to discourage criminal conduct and enhance public trust in law enforcement.
Dhami also demanded that the police force undergo operational reforms, urging officials to improve patrolling in high-risk and sensitive locations and fortify the operation of police stations and outposts. He oversaw the start of targeted enforcement campaigns in metropolitan areas to enhance public safety and traffic discipline.
Zero Tolerance Warning
The Chief Minister emphasized that results must be observable on the ground and issued a warning that anti-social elements and those who seek to disrupt public order would not be given any leeway. “People’s everyday lives must feel safe. Any dereliction of duty will result in severe consequences, he declared.
In order to guarantee effective execution, he further ordered that law and order cases be reviewed on a regular basis and that accountability be clearly established at all levels. Reiterating that peace, security, and good governance are essential to the state’s development plan, Dhami reaffirmed the government’s dedication to its vision of a “crime-free Uttarakhand.”
Senior police and administrative authorities, including the Garhwal Commissioner, the Director General of Police, the Home Secretary, the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), and the Chief Secretary, attended the meeting.
