On Tuesday, World Bank representatives examined crop residue management efforts in Aterna village under the direction of Assistant Engineer Naveen Hooda of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department.
On February 10th and 11th, the inspection was carried out to examine the crop residue management efforts carried out in Haryana as part of the Healthy Hawa Project.
European environmental specialist Natasha and World Bank social expert Swati Dogra were part of the inspection team. While on a visit to the Aterna Organic Farmers Produce Company, the officials examined the innovations used there.
At this point, a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) was packing sweet corn in a boiler with bales of straw. Authorities hailed this as an important step in the direction of environmental preservation.
Modern agricultural tools for managing crop residue, such as rotary slashers, straw rakes, and balers, were also on display at the Agriculture Department. In their interactions with farmers, World Bank representatives asked about government subsidies and incentives for agricultural equipment, specifically for crop residue management. The Padma Shri honorees JE Sandeep, Balbir, Rahul Chauhan, and Kanwal Singh Chauhan were also in attendance.
