Can Harmanpreet’s MI Still Qualify for WPL 2026 Playoffs?

After the tournament’s first phase, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) points table reveals a certain leader. With five victories from five games, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are leading. They have a strong net run rate of +1.882 and ten points.

As of right now, RCB is the only WPL 2026 team without a loss. With just two victories in six games, the Mumbai Indians are second but far behind.

With four points apiece, UP Warriors, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Giants are firmly positioned in the middle, with net run rate being the primary differentiator.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been the most impressive player in the batting stats. In six games, she has amassed 240 runs at a remarkable average of 60.

Nat Sciver-Brunt comes in second with 219 runs. Meg Lanning, Phoebe Litchfield, and Lizelle Lee have all made significant contributions.

With ten wickets apiece, Amelia Kerr and Nadine de Klerk share the top spot in bowling. Although at a greater economy rate, Nandani Sharma has also claimed ten wickets.

Sophie Devine, Lauren Bell, and Shreyanka Patil have all made consistent contributions. The highest individual scores highlight this season’s attacking ambition. Sophie Devine’s outstanding 95 comes in second on the list, after Smriti Mandhana’s 96.

Phoebe Litchfield, Grace Harris, and Lizelle Lee have all had significant innings with high strike rates. Shreyanka Patil’s 5/23 stands out as the finest bowling figure to date.

Delhi Capitals maintained their chances of qualifying last night by defeating Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets with a cool-headed and assured chase. The Capitals reached 155/3 in 19 overs while chasing a target of 155.

When invited to bat first, the Mumbai Indians scored 154 for 5 in their 20 overs. With an undefeated 65 off 45 balls, Nat Sciver-Brunt anchored the innings.

While the rest of the batting order contributed momentarily, Harmanpreet Kaur provided crucial support with 41 off 33 balls. With stats of 3/33, Nallapureddy Charani was Delhi’s best bowler.

Delhi Capitals responded by getting off to a great start and never letting the asking price go up. Jemimah Rodrigues won Player of the Match after leading the chase with a calm, undefeated 51 from 37 balls. Shafali Verma’s quick 29 guaranteed early advantage, while Lizelle Lee played an aggressive knock of 46 from just 28 balls.

The WPL 2026 schedule’s next games will all take place in Vadodara. Gujarat Giants will play UP Warriorz on January 22. Following a day off, the Royal Challengers play the Delhi Capitals on January 24. On January 26, they play the Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru.

Gujarat Giants will play back-to-back games in the middle stretch, first on January 27 against Delhi Capitals and then on January 30 against Mumbai Indians. On January 29, the UP Warriorz take on RCB, and on February 1, the Capitals return to play the Warriorz.

On February 3, in the evening in Vadodara, the Eliminator will kick off the tournament’s business end. The Final on February 5th brings the season to a close.

The team with the highest ranking in the WPS points table will advance straight to the championship game. There will be an elimination match between the teams in second and third place. The second finalist will be the winner of the match.

RCB has already earned a spot in the postseason. They will advance to the final if they win at least one more game. Mumbai’s Harmanpreet Kaur is unable to advance straight to the final. They will still have eight points even if they win their next two games.

All other teams are theoretically still capable of winning the WPL points table. Each of them has three games left. A team can earn ten points if they win all three games. If, by the end of the league stage, RCB is also at 10, the Net Run Rate will determine the table leader.
